Mineral Point - William Bracken Johnston, age 89, of Mineral Point passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington after a long illness.

He was born in Mineral Point on August 3, 1930 the son of Charles and Dorothy (Bracken) Johnston. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1948. Bracken married Patricia Parkos on December 18, 1954 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Mineral Point. He raised beef cattle and hogs on the family farm, the oldest family farm in Lafayette County, his entire life. He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and was also a member of the Mineral Point Odd Fellows Lodge. He was proud of his grandchildren, enjoyed making wooden bowls and researching his family history genealogy.

Bracken is survived by his wife Patricia of Mineral Point; a daughter Marcia (Jim) Gratz of New Berlin; 3 grandchildren Bryan Johnston, Amanda Johnston, and Amber Gratz; a sister Helen Komplin of Fond du Lac; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four sons Bruce, David, Jerry and Scott; and a brother-in-law Neil Komplin.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Mineral Point. Pastor Rick McLeer will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 12 noon until 1:50 p.m. at the church.
