Mineral Point - William Ludlum, age 64, of Mineral Point, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 surrounded by family and loved ones during his brief illness at his home.
William R. Ludlum was born on March 30, 1953 the son of Willard J. Ludlum and Agnes J. (Palzkill) Ludlum in Willow Springs Township. He attended Parkinson School and St. Mary's School before graduating from Mineral Point High School in 1973. On May 24, 1994 in Las Vegas, he married the love of his life, Jacqueline Riley.
Bill had a very strong work ethic and took pride in the work he did. He was a valued employee at Nelson–Cummins from 1974-2013. He brought this same work ethic and pride to all areas of life. Bill worked hard at gardening, landscaping, and making improvements at Jackie and his home. He was a very accomplished woodworker. He built many of the furnishings in their house and yard. Wood signs built by Bill can be seen all around Mineral Point and the surrounding communities. He was very creative. He had the ability to take something that most people would consider waste and make it into something functional and beautiful.
Bill had many hobbies throughout his life. They included fishing, golf, hunting, 4 wheeling, vacationing, and many more. But for Bill, it was less about the activity and more about the people. He loved being around friends and family.
Bill is survived by his wife Jackie; four children Jeremy (Laura) Ludlum of Williston, ND, Robert (Summer) Johnson of Galena, IL, Robyn (Brian) Deyo of La Crosse and Kelly (Trevor Trace) Johnson of Dodgeville; six grandchildren Mason, Courtney, Tyler, Jacee, Chance, and Samantha "SJ"; nine siblings Clarita (Ronald) Scott of Rockton, IL, John (Marilyn) Ludlum of Monroe, Mary Schweitzer of Mineral Point, Robert (Marlene) Ludlum of Mineral Point, Thomas (Kate) Ludlum of Dodgeville, James Ludlum of Mineral Point, Charles (Leah) Ludlum of Madison, Terry (James) Gevelinger of Mineral Point, Kenneth (Susan) Ludlum of Belmont; his mother-in-law Jean Riley along with many nieces and nephews.
