Obituary

Barneveld - William S. "Bill" Harris, age 84, of rural Barneveld, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville.

He was born on June 28, 1928 in Baker, Montana the son of Edgar W. and Elouise (Baker) Harris. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1947. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in England and Germany. Bill returned to school, graduating from the UW Platteville, and then he attended UW Wisconsin - Madison for his Agriculture Education and Administration Degree.

Bill married Joyce A. Yeager on September 6, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Point. He taught Agriculture at Oregon High School. Bill was a talented woodworker making spinning wheels, candle holders, and carving animals. In 1990 they purchased a farmette in rural Blue Mounds / Barneveld and planted many trees, in 1995 they moved into their home. He loved Farming and being in the country with the animals, and working in his yard, riding his John Deere Gator with his kitty by his side and his golden retriever "Jack" in the back.

Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce, of Barneveld; his brother, Walter "Bud" (Pat) Harris, of Mineral Point; his sisters, Rosalie Dunbar of Mineral Point and Debra (Jeff) Bourgholtzer, of Clearwater, FL; a special nephew, Charley (Charlotte) Rule and their children, Kyle and Samantha, of Mineral Point; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Patricia Prinslow and Barbara Romero.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Mineral Point. Pastor Leanne Rose will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Mineral Point with military rites accorded by the Mineral Point VFW and American Legion. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point, and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
