Mineral Point - Wayne William Carey, age 81, of Mineral Point, WI died peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2012. He was born on April 19, 1931 to William Owen and Edna (Schmitz) Carey. He married Alice Finkelmeyer on August 18, 1949. He attended Burr Oak School in rural Mineral Point. He was a successful cattleman and farmer for many years. His love of harness racing was life long with many great horses to his name. He enjoyed and took great pride in his children and grandchildren who will dearly miss him.
Wayne was deeply loved by his wife Alice, whom he is survived. He is also survived by his children Diane (Jack) Melville, their children Chris, Jenny (Thomas) Stuber; Donna (RJ) Swenson, their children Kirk (Kate) Swenson, Shawn (Laura) Swenson, Kyle Swenson; Greg (Becky) Carey, their children Kim Carey (Jamie Sporle) and Danny Carey (Kacy Sporle), his great-grandchildren Drew and Dylan Swenson; his sister Rosalie Logue; his brother John (Janice) Carey, his sisters-in-law Marian Carey, Jo McWilliams, Trudy Carey, Janice Carey, and Gola Finkelmeyer; his brothers-in-law Gene (Sue) Wilson and Harry (Dorothy) Finkelmeyer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers Gerald, Dick, Bill, and Bobby, 2 sisters, Marion Wilson and Jean (Don) Turek, brothers-in-lawsBill logue, Francis (Anna Mae) Finkelmeyer, Paul Finkelmeyer, sisters-in-law Jean (Dick) Figge, and Norma Finkelmeyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Fr. James Hinnen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
