Mineral Point - Wayne Carl Berg, age 74, of Lost Grove, Wisconsin, died Saturday, July 8, 2017 after losing his battle with COPD. He was born in Dodgeville, WI on November 26, 1942 to Carl Raymond and Margaret Dorothy Berg.

After graduating from high school in 1960, Wayne joined the U.S. Navy where he served our country for three years. After leaving the Navy, Wayne worked as a carpenter until his retirement in 2004, where he remained on the family farm until his death.

Wayne enjoyed going for rides in his Jeep, rooting for the Packers and Badgers and cheering on his favorite NASCAR driver, Matt Kenseth. He also was an avid reader and loved to watch old westerns on TV. Wayne loved to deer hunt on the farm and fish.

Wayne is survived by his sons Anthony Wayne Berg (special friend Cheryl) of Madison and Scott Raymond (Kathy) Berg of Mineral Point; his sisters Virginia Ann (William) Reynolds of Mineral Point, Sharon Kay Meylor of Belmont and Henrietta Rae (David) Nyhus of Blanchardville; his brothers Gerald Paul (Pat) Berg of Livingston and David Leroy (Shea) Berg of Dodgeville; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by parents, Carl Raymond and Margaret Dorothy Berg; his brother Eugene Kenneth Berg, his sister Diane Marie Vickers, and brother-in-law Thomas William Meylor.

The family of Wayne Berg would like to convey their sincere gratitude for the kindness expressed by Wayne's friends and neighbors; especially to the nurses of Upland Hills Hospital that cared for Wayne and made him as comfortable as possible during his time at the hospital.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME. Military Rites will be accorded by the Mineral Point VFW and American Legion following the service at the funeral home.
