Virginia M. Dalles' Obituary
Mineral Point - Virginia M. Dalles, age 92, of Mineral Point, died peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Atrium Post-Acute Care of Mineral Point.
Virginia was born on March 30, 1923 in Mt. Hope, a daughter of Joseph and Helen (Elliott) Neis. She was a waitress and cook, who worked at many local restaurants, including the old Reese's and Wayside in Dodgeville and the Dodge Point Country Club. She loved cooking for people and sharing meals with people who were sick or lost a family member. She shared not only her cinnamon rolls with others, but also her plant cuttings. She so enjoyed dancing to the big bands at "The Lake" at Soldiers Memorial Park and in Dubuque and Madison. If there was a polka mass being held at a local church, she'd be there.
Virginia was an active and dedicated member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mineral Point, where for years she made pasties for the church sale and often volunteered at the Mineral Point Care Center. We will miss Mom and her hearty laugh.
Virginia is survived by her children, Peggy (Larry) Cordts, of St. Charles, IL, Mark (Peg Wallin) Dalles, of Mineral Point and Brenda (Steve) Stacy, of Evansville; her grandchildren, Ginnell (Travis) Barke, Scott Cordts, Samantha and Kayla Stacy; her great grandchildren, Eva and Paige Barke; her siblings, Norma Haglund, of Mt. Horeb and Mildred Meudt, of Jefferson; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dalles, her parents and her brother, Joe Neis.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia Dalles will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Monsignor Monte Robinson will officiate. Inurnment will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point and from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Iowa County Food Pantry, 149 N. Iowa Street, Dodgeville, WI 53533.
