Tony Nardi's Obituary
Mineral Point – Tony Nardi, age 95 of Mineral Point, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 23, 2012.
He was born on October 7, 1917 in Mineral Point, the son of Frank and Mary (Andriachi) Nardi. Tony was a lifelong resident of Mineral Point except for his service in the Army at Camp Roberts in CA. and four years in Milwaukee. He graduated from MPHS in 1938. He married his beloved Marion McGettigan on May 6, 1944. Together they raised four children; William (Kathie); Michael (Pat); John (Barb) and Janet (John) Spielvogel. He worked at various jobs throughout his life; he retired from the U.S. Post Office after 23 years. He belonged to the Catholic Knights and was a life time member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Tony enjoyed fishing, deer and turkey hunting with his family, friends and two adopted sons (as he called them) Dick Hruby and Roger Degnan. He is survived by his children; nine grandchildren; David, Amy (Jim) Wollangk, Brett (Elsa), Kari (Scott) Harpold, Matt, Tony, David (Gretchen) Weber, Erica (Kevin) Ireland, Elissa (Brent) Williams, ten great grandchildren, special niece Mary Jane Weiskircher (Larry), McGettigan in-laws; Audrey Kuter, Patricia (Walter) Harris, Brian (Ruth), Dennis (Denise), Karen (Lee) Greenwood, Mark (Sue), Patrick (Michel) and Michealine (William) Fardy, many nieces, nephew, special cousins in New Jersey and Illinois and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Marion, brothers; Sam (Josena), Vito and Joseph (Nellie) and sisters; Nicolena and Margaret, In-Laws; William, Jr., William Kuter, Geraldine (Robert), Francis, Raymond (JoAnna ).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point, and on Friday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Military Graveside rites will be accorded by the Mineral Point VFW and American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Upland Hills Hospice or Upland Hills Nursing and Rehab Center, 800 Compassion Way, Dodgeville, WI 53533.
