Belmont - Thomas Robert McWilliams passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022. Tom was 82 years old at the time of his death.
He graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School, Crystal Lake, Illinois, the class of 1958. He attended college in Illinois and worked in the printing business in Chicago for over 20 years. He started his own printing business and was involved in that until his retirement in 2010.
Tom moved to rural Kendall Township in 1997. He decided to relocate to this area since his great grandfather came here in 1850 from Ireland to farm. His grandfather and his father both graduated from Darlington High School.
Tom is the son of Paul McWilliams and Caroline (Berg) McWilliams. He was a member of St. Philomena's Church in Belmont and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Jocelyn (Carey) McWilliams of this area and three daughters from a previous marriage, Christine (George) Hibbert of Scottsville, VA, Carolyn (James) Lowe of Idaho Falls, ID and Colleen (James) Rinn of Huntley, IL. He has 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (John) Hastie of Darlington along with many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is also survived by six step children; Brenda (Chuck) Myers, Paula (David) Strelitz, Carla (Jeff ) Hudson, Jeff (Kris) Carey, Tom (Kari) Carey, Gina (Steve) Wied.
His family was the most important part of his life.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, a brother, James and a sister, Patricia Rubley.
He thoroughly enjoyed living in the country and being with his family whenever possible.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Belmont. Fr Michael Tarigopula will officiate. A visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:50 AM at the church.
