Obituary

Dodgeville - Susan Carey Dalton-Perkins, 56, passed away too soon Saturday, July 20, 2013 following a courageous 30 year fight with a variety of cancers. She died peacefully at her home, comfortable and surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She was born March 2, 1957 in Portage, WI, the daughter of the late Blair and Patricia (Johnson) Dalton. She moved to Dodgeville in 1966 and was a 1975 graduate of Dodgeville High School and was a lifelong Dodgeville resident.

She is survived by her children, J.J. (Erin) Prine of Mt. Horeb and JoAnna Prine, of Hollandale; her granddaughters, Janessa, Jaycie and Jaylyn; her brother, Blair J. Dalton and his daughter Andrea both of Dodgeville; her nieces, Nicole (Barry) Hottmann of Dodgeville and Erin Van Epps of Madison; several great nieces and nephews, and her special friend Michelle Gullickson of Dodgeville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mike Perkins in 2002, her mother Patricia in 2000, her father Blair in 2010, and her sister Julie Van Epps in 2006.

Despite all the setbacks and disappointments that cancer threw at her since 1983 when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, she fought back with a positive attitude, humor and a zest to enjoy life to the fullest. She enjoyed her vacation visits to her condominium in Gulf Shores, AL with her husband, family and friends, camping throughout the state, and she loved to sing, singing at many weddings, funerals and anywhere there was a karaoke machine.

Sue was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She worked at several jobs in Dodgeville most notably at Anchor Bank, Carla's Cupboard, Iowa County Social Services, Land Conservancy of Iowa County and co-owner of the bar 'Here's to You' in Dodgeville and later in Mineral Point.

Sue was a special person to so many people and she loved you all. She was a strong, compassionate, caring and loving woman and she will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1105 N. Bequette, Dodgeville, with Pastor Steve Kottke officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church on Saturday, July 27, 2013.

As Sue would say and want, 'Here's to You,' so please join us immediately following the service at Dodge-Point Country Club, 1771 County Road YD, to share memories, camaraderie, laughs and hugs.
