Sharon J. (Devoss) Morrison's Obituary
Verona - Sharon Jean (DeVoss) Morrison, age 71, of Verona, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Agrace Hospice facility in Fitchburg, WI.
Sharon, the daughter of Fred and Lois DeVoss was born on March 27, 1945 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA. Sharon graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1963. She was united in marriage to her best friend Gerald Morrison on October 26, 1968 in Madison.
Sharon retired in 2002 from UW Department of Medicine after 38 years. During her retirement, Sharon enjoyed Saturday morning Farmer's Markets with her brother Orville, movies with her girlfriends, summer art fairs with Jerry and sharing her large library of books with her brother Dick. Sharon had an unwavering talent for maintaining a beautiful display of orchids. Growing up as the only daughter in a family of seven children, taking care of others was second nature to Sharon. Sharon was generous and unselfish in every aspect of life. Her greatest joy was being a best friend.
Sharon is survived by her husband Jerry of 47 years; her brothers David (Dorothy) of Dodgeville, Larry (Catherine) of Dodgeville, Dick of Dodgeville, Orville (Carol) of Linden, Gary (Cora) of San Antonio, TX and Tom (Kathy) of Dodgeville; her brothers-in-law Hugh (Sharon) Morrison of Sun Prairie and Jim (Sue) Morrison of Madison, WI; as well as several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Lois DeVoss, a special aunt and uncle LaVerna and Darrell Hanson, nephews Jeff DeVoss and Carson DeVoss, her great niece Sarah Sandstrom and a sister-in-law Mary Heideman.
A Public Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Burial will be held in East Side Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Mary's Hospital, Carbone Cancer Center at UW Hospital or Agrace Hospice where Sharon received extraordinary and compassionate care over the past several weeks. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to all who showed their love for Sharon in her lifetime.
