Obituary

Mineral Point – Robert A. Flum, age 91 of Mineral Point, died on October 3, 2017. He was born February 28, 1926 in Chicago to Philip and Margaret (Weber) Flum. He attended Taft High School in Chicago, enlisting in the Naval Air Corps during his senior year. Bob served in the US Navy for two and a half years during World War II. He received BS and MS degrees in Education from Northern Illinois University.

Bob taught in Genoa and Arlington Heights, IL. He served as the first Superintendent of Schools in Schaumburg, IL for 11 years during a period of tremendous growth. He then served as School Superintendent for 20 years in Mineral Point, retiring in 1985.

He married Joyce Gribble Lieder on January 12, 1974. Bob is survived by his wife and his three children: Robert, Jr. (Cristy), Margaret Lambrecht, and Elizabeth (David) Lynne. He is also survived by five stepchildren: Linda (Ron) Murphy, Tom (Terri) Lieder, Steve (Diane) Lieder, Jim (Mary) Lieder, and Mary Harper (Scott King). There are 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Philip, Jr.

At Bob's request, he will be cremated, and there will be no service.

Bob further requested that no flowers be sent and that no donations be made in his name.
