Mineral Point - Robert "Bob" J. Ivey passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Agrace Hospice Care in Madison.
He was born on March 2, 1920 the son of Charles and Lou (Suthers) Ivey in Mineral Point, WI. Bob graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1938, then going to further his education at Platteville Teachers College. Upon graduation in 1942 he taught Agriculture and Civics at Marshall and Muscoda, WI. On May 27, 1943 he married Evelyn Hill in Darlington, WI. Bob was drafted into the U.S. Navy and served in the Medical Corps. Upon his discharge he went into partnership with has brother Roger establishing Ivey Construction Co. in Mineral Point.
After becoming a silent partner in Ivey Construction Co. he managed and farmed Ivey Brothers Farms. Bob and Evelyn enjoyed traveling, spending many winters in Florida, with their many neighbors over the years. Bob also enjoyed training and driving horses in harness racing. Bob is survived by many nieces and nephews, and friends. He was especially proud and fortunate to have Mitch, Ellie, Tyler, and Tessa Wainwright as very special friends and next door neighbors.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn, brothers Roger and Harry.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Mineral Point. Rev. Beryl Melcher and Daniel Yeazel will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded by the Mineral Point VFW and American Legion. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
