Mineral Point – Richard Gluise White, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Richard was born to Richard Gluise and Fannie Evalena (James) White on Friday, January 13, 1926 at his maternal grandparents, Richard Dwight and Eva (Fitzsimmons) James' home in Greysville. On August 21, 1954, Richard wed Beverly Joan Johnson at the Peace Lutheran Church in Platteville, WI where then they spent their entire lives farming the White family farm north of Waldwick. Richard and Beverly moved into Mineral Point in 1988 but like a true farmer, Richard never retired and drove to the farm every day to help his son, Robert.

Richard's entire life focused on his farm, family and friends. Richard and Beverly added three children to their farm life - Robin, Robert and Rodney in which he instilled his love and work ethic of the farm life. He enjoyed spending time and playing games with his grandchildren, and watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers was a regular pastime. Richard was active in the Mineral Point United Church of Christ, the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star, Iowa County Cattlemen's Association, Waldwick Township Board, Somerset Card Club, and the Waldwick Corn Growers Association. In 1990, he received the Iowa County Cattlemen's Cattleman of the Year Award, and he received his 65 year honor in the Masonic Lodge in 2013.

Richard is survived by his wife, Beverly; his daughter, Robin, and children, Aaron and Eric Stauffacher; his son Robert (Jill) and children, Kirk, Kyle, and Karissa; and son Rodney (Jeanalin) and children, Sarah (Aaron) Hauri, Reid, Riley, Russell, and Rhianna; one sister, Evalena (Clifford) Anderson; sister- and brother-in-law Norman and Marlene Kirley; cousins Leslie (Mildred) Stephenson and Nancy (Vivian) Okey; nieces and nephews Donald Anderson, Mary Dolan, Margie Barnes, Bryan, Brad, Bruce and Brent Johnson and Deanna Simms and their families.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Fannie White; father- and mother-in-law Elmer and Helen Johnson; brother- and sister-in-law, Jerald and Sharon Johnson; daughter-in-law Paula Kay (Schaaf) White; niece Marcia Mae Anderson; and cousins James Stephenson, Donald Prideaux, Virginia Vivian and Robert Vivian.

Funeral and Masonic services will be held at the CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST in Mineral Point at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016. Friend may call at the church from 9:00 -11:30 a.m. on Friday preceding the services. Pastors Luke Bocher and Beryl Melcher will co-officiate. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. All friends and family are invited to join the family with a luncheon at the Hope Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mineral Point United Church of Christ, Upland Hills Health Home Care and Hospice, and the Mineral Point Rescue Squad.
