Dodgeville - Raymond Eugene Brennan, age 85, of Dodgeville, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in Dodgeville after a short illness.

He was born on April 5, 1930 in Dodgeville Township, the son of Matthew and Myrtle (Crook) Brennan. He married Delores Straka on January 30, 1960. They lived in Dodgeville all their lives.

He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On May 16, 2015, he was selected to go on the Badger Honor Flight to Washington D.C., which brought him immense joy. Ray was an Operating Engineer most of his life. In his retirement he did volunteer work for LIFT and ADRC. He was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus. VFW and a retired member of the Dodgeville Volunteer Fire Dept.

He loved playing Euchre with his family and friends. He could be found at the nearest river or lake fishing for his next great story of the fish that got away. Above all, his quick wit and great sense of humor brightened up the day of those around him.

Ray is survived by Delores, his wife of 55 years; his children, Victoria Brennan, of Rochester, MN; Brad (Janelle) Brennan, of Janesville, WI; Jim Brennan, of Dodgeville; and Renee (Tony) Capozziello, of Janesville, WI; 9 grandchildren, Kelsey, Aaron (Bailie), and Rebecca Mehling; Sam and Joe Brennan; Ally Brennan; and Nicole (David), Alyssa (Paul), and Natalia (Paul) Capozziello; 2 great grandchildren, Dominic Capozziello and Zoey Mehling; his brother, Henry Brennan; his sisters, Mary (Joe) Esch, Margaret Karls, Carol Deans, his brother-in-law Duzie Terrill; and his sister-in-law Mary Ellen Brennan. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Dorothy Ausse, Bernadine Cook, Betty Dolan, Bea Palzkill; and his brother-in-law Bob (Yvonne) Straka and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Francis, John, Bob; sisters Betty Wunnicke and Alice Terrrill, and numerous in-laws.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015 at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Monsignor Daniel Ganshert will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the Dodgeville Area Veterans. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville, where a parish rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Monday at the church.
