Obituary

Dodgeville - Phylis Rose Hoffman, age 82, of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville.

She was born on April 24,1939, to Felice and Josephine (De Gennaro) Natiello of New York City, in the Bronx. United in marriage on October 24, 1964 to Michael Hoffman Jr. Later, Phylis moved to Bolingbrook, IL with her husband and children. She loved Jesus with her whole heart, and committing her life to Him allowed her to love others with her whole heart, too. She loved butterflies as they represented New Life in Christ. When you see butterflies, remember her and the Eternal Life you, too, can have in Jesus.

Phylis had many small businesses, including Tupperware, Avon, MaryKay, Sarah Coventry, and homemade crafts. She was especially pleased that some of her Macrame items and floral arrangements were sold and appreciated internationally!

Dancing seemed to be in Phylis' blood! In addition to the polka, and more formal ballroom dances, she had fun dancing to songs such as Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode," Chubby Checkers' "The Twist," and "Wild Horses," by the Rolling Stones. Those songs will always remind us of her. Now, she is dancing with Jesus!

Phylis so enjoyed spending time with family and friends, faithfully staying connected with them through phone calls, and birthday or holiday cards. Because she appreciated poetry, especially the work of Helen Steiner Rice, she added poems to her cards in her beautiful handwriting. Those who received these cards treasure them dearly. In addition to poetry, Phylis was an avid reader and really enjoyed Amish books. Her other favorite pastimes included coloring, doing crossword puzzles, and playing Bingo, Phase 10, and Rummikub with her friends.

Time with her family was cherished - whether going on adventures, out to eat, or just being together for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and holidays. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, care and contagious laughter. She will be greatly missed!

Phylis is survived by her faithful husband of 57 years, Michael, and by her children: James of Bolingbrook, Illinois; Michele Ann (Harvey) Stieve of Dodgeville, Wisconsin; Debra Ann (Brian) Vlcek of EauClaire, Wisconsin; and Madeline (David) Yonki of Sevierville, Tennessee. Phylis is also survived by her grandchildren: James Jr., Joshua (Amani), Jesse (Arissa), and Jared (Alana) Hoffman, Kenna Stieve, Luke (Jesse) Stieve, Karissa (Amos) Langlois, and Emily Stieve, and Moriah, Briahna, Isaiah, and Elijah Vlcek, and her great grandchildren Bassam Hoffman, Harper Hoffman, Ellabrynn, Ezekiel, Judah, and Joshua Langlois, Sister-in-law Nancy Cietelli, brother-in-law: Bobby Pfeister, as well as, nieces, nephews: Anthony Mirante, Donata (Frank) Magazino, Philip Mirante, Josephine (Murray) Hertzberg, Ralphie Mirante, Eddie (Donna) Finn Jr., Michael (Marisol) Finn, Joseph Masi, Margret, Richie Jr and Lisa Citelli, Cassandra Gonzalez, Tiffany and Raquel "Rocky" Pfeister, their children and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and 3 sisters and their husbands: Carmela "Dolly" (Ralphie) Mirante, Lucille "Chubby" (Eddie) Finn, and AnnaMarie "Sister" (Al) Masi, sister-in-law: Cindy Pfeister and niece, RoseAnn Mirante.

Private Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville with graveside services at East Side Cemetery.
