Mineral Point - Paul E. Whitford, age 84, of Mineral Point, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on January 30, 1930 in Darlington, the son of Thurl and Mabel (Peterson) Whitford. He married Rita Schaaf on October 6, 1949 and they were blessed with 54 years of marriage. He is a member of the Ss. Mary & Paul Catholic Church. Paul was a heavy equipment operator his whole life.

Paul is survived by his three sons, Ronn (Dixie) Whitford, of Marion, Bruce Whitford, and Duane Whitford, of Mineral Point; six grandchildren, Ryan (Kim) Whitford, Tara (Jamie) Lindholm, Traci Whitford, Tricia (Mitch) Bowers, Shane Whitford, Chad (Amy) Whitford; thirteen great-grandchildren, Jenna Okas, August, Romy, Tatum, and Toby Whitford, Rian Jo and Raigan Lindholm, Madison, McKenna, and Elin Bowers, Sullivan Whitford, Will Straka and Nora Whitford; his special friend, Mary Alice Moore; his sister, Penny (Don) Laverty, of Beaver Dam; his brother, Jerry (Rita) Whitford, of Monona Grove, his sisters-in-law, Darlene Franklin, of Berlin, Annabelle Schaaf, and Catherine Whitford, both of Mineral Point.

He is preceded in death by his wife Rita, his parents, a brother Dale "Burly", a sister Joann, infant twin siblings, a daughter-in-law Diane Whitford, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

Paul loved spending time with his family and friends, Thursday happy hours, and his long walks through Mineral Point.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Burial will be held in St. Paul's Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass on Thursday at the church.
