Dodgeville – Patrick B. Calhoun, age 72, of Dodgeville, passed away unexpectedly as a victim of a traffic accident on Saturday, August 26, 2017 in rural Argyle.

Pat was born March 20, 1945 in Far Rockaway, NY while his father was in the military. His parents were Bernard and Clarice (Skjod) Calhoun. He graduated from Marian Central High School in Woodstock, IL in 1963. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army and served three years in Germany and Korea.
On October 20, 1967 he married Carol Beese in Belvedere, IL. Together they started farming in McHenry, IL and in 1974 moved to Ridgeway Township and started their dairy operation.

Pat had a lifelong love of farming and working the land. He was instrumental in the formation of the Land Use Committee of Ridgeway Township. He also served on the Farm Bureau Board of Iowa County for several years. He was an active member of Barneveld Congregational UCC and a proud member of the pasty making group at Grace Methodist Church in Ridgeway.

His love of reading was readily shared among friends and family through discussion and book sharing. Model railroading was the hobby and joy that he shared with his grandchildren and friends, particularly Gari Walz. Pat enjoyed his weekly struggles with the lawn mower and was proudly known as "The Lawn Ranger". His gentle spirit was taken too soon but will live on in the hearts of friends and family.

Pat is survived by his wife Carol; his daughters Jennifer Weissner and Joanne (Ricardo) Mata, both of Chicago; his three beloved grandchildren Montana and Morgan Weissner, and Alexander Mata; his brother Michael (Linda) Calhoun of Utica, IL; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, William and Evelyn Beese.

A Celebration of Pat's Life will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.
