Dodgeville / Fennimore - Patricia J. (Pat) Hanson, age 76, died peacefully on January 13, 2017 surrounded by family. She was currently residing at Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore, WI.

Pat was born on July 11, 1940 to Frank and Helen (Love) Trainor. She grew up on a farm outside of Ridgeway with her nine brothers and sisters. She was married to the late Richard Hanson on August 1, 1956 and together they had nine children while living in the Dodgeville and Montfort communities. Family was the most important thing to Pat and she treasured her 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren as well as her many, many special nieces and nephews. She touched the lives of every person she came into contact with in her own unique way (boom).

Pat was a tireless worker starting from her childhood days living on the farm. Following her years raising her family she worked in several positions, each of which she approached with the same energy and positive attitude. Especially rewarding to her were her times with Community Action Program in Dodgeville and Meridian Group in Fitchburg. After a day at work Pat would make it a priority to send a loved one a special card recognizing their birthday, anniversary, accomplishment or hardship. Her messages were both comforting and inspiring. But her favorite pastime was sitting around a table with a pot of coffee enjoying simple conversation with anyone and about anything. Her greatest gift was making everyone feel important in that moment of conversation regardless of the situation and subject at hand. She was the epitome of love and faith.

Pat is survived by seven children, Richard (Pat) Hanson of Parrish, FL, Patrick James (Karen) Hanson of McFarland, JoAnne (Dennis Marklein) Munson of Dodgeville, Beckie (Doug) Strub of Verona, Tami (Dave Schrader) Bollant of Stitzer, Annette (Tom) Bollant of Montfort, Jeff (Jeanene Lewis) Hanson of Monroe, daughter-in-law Mary Hanson of Richland Center, special friend LA Klug of Monroe, sisters Vicki (Denny) Selje of Columbus, Connie (Tom) Thornburg of Madison, brothers Jack (Pauline) Trainor of Cottage Grove, Jim (Lauren) Trainor of Bellvue, MI, sister-in-law Diane Trainor of Texas, Delila Rickey of Dodgeville, Marcie Yero of Richland Center, brothers-in-laws Bob Shaw and Mike O'Leary both of Madison, and her uncle Ed (Karen) Love of Madison. She is further survived by her 22 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sons Timothy Jon and Wesley Brian, sons-in-laws David Munson and Charlie Bollant, former husband Richard Hanson, great-grandson Braden Watters, sisters Peg Shaw, Betty O'Leary and Missy Feldbruegge, brothers Hop and Joe Trainor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Fr. Jim Leeser will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Wednesday at the church.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Good Samaritan Society for caring and loving Pat over the past two years. As was her nature, Pat became very close with each of them. A big thanks also to the staff of Upland Hills Health for always looking out for Pat's comfort and the care they provided during each visit.
