Mineral Point - Nona Belle Chappell, age 89, of Mineral Point passed away peacefully on April 18, 2018 at Ingleside Manor in Mount Horeb, WI.
She was born on June 7, 1928, the daughter of Homer and Lelia (Davis) Kendall of Waldwick. She attended school at Plum Grove and Waldwick, graduating from Mineral Point High School in 1945.
On June 13, 1946, Nona married Stephen Eugene "Bill" Chappell at the Kendall farm near Waldwick. Bill and Nona lived in the same house in Mineral Point most of their married life where they raised their three children and Bill's brother, Bob, who was 13 when his parents were killed in a car accident. Bill preceded Nona in death on June 1, 1996.
Nona was an intelligent, resourceful and thoughtful person who loved and was very proud of her kids, grandkids and especially her "greats". She was employed at Burgess Battery in Mineral Point, Amphenol Controls in Dodgeville and ended her career as Quality Manager at Silicon Sensors in Dodgeville, retiring at 2000 at age 72. She asked that we make sure to mention how very special all her co-workers were to her.
After her well-deserved retirement, she enjoyed sewing, quilting with the Souper Quilters, yard and home projects, contributing in many ways as part of the Parish of the Hills United Methodist Church in Mineral Point, genealogy, digital photography and creating computer photo prints and collages.
Nona is survived by her children Marcia (Bob) Lancaster of Stoughton and Terry (Roberta) of Mount Horeb; six grandchildren Chadd (Carine) Lancaster, Tiffany Loken (Kirk Zimpel), Jessica (Yonatan) Rosner, Jacob (Monica) Nesheim, Robert (Stephanie) Chappell and Nathan (Vivian) Chappell. She is further survived by 13 great-grandchildren Gabe and Trey Loken; Gillian and Jake Lancaster; Avriella, Ness and Shiloh Rosner; Edward and Lee Nesheim; Tyren, Madeline, Patrick and Amelia Chappell. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Neva Kendall, many special nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter Cindy Nesheim in 2016; parents, Homer and Lelia Kendall; brother Eddie Kendall; sister Eunice Nelson; mother and father-in-law Jim and Leila Chappell; sisters-in-law Florence Fitzsimons, Melva Dolphin, Winifred Crook; brothers-in-law John Nelson, Donald, Jack, Joe and Bob Chappell, Russell Fitzsimons, Ted Dolphin and Kenny Crook.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 until 10:50 a.m. at the church. A luncheon will follow.
