Murl J. Weinbrenner's Obituary
Mineral Point - Murl J. Weinbrenner, age 91, of Mineral Point, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Mineral Point Care Center. He was born on March 4, 1920, the son of Carl W. and Maebelle Evans Weinbrenner. Murl graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1937. He was married on June 16, 1945 to Donna Schultz from Fremont, NE and Donna was by his side every day for the last 66+ years. Murl farmed all of his life and at various times was also employed by
Mineral Point Products Co., Cobb Canning Factory, Helgeson Harvestore Co. and sold feed for Vigortone Feed Co. He was a past volunteer driver for the Commission on Aging.
He enjoyed woodworking, welding, and working on his Oliver tractors. Murl and his dad built nearly all of the buildings on the home farm and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. Murl enjoyed visiting with family and friends and always loved a good game of euchre. He was an avid fan of the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers. Murl liked to fish on the small streams in the area with a cane pole and take slow rides through the countryside looking at farms and the scenery.
Murl is survived by his wife, Donna; four children, Barry (Clare) of Appleton, Randy of Madison, Craig of Mineral Point, and Denise (Rob) Gevelinger of Barneveld; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Maebelle Weinbrenner, his siblings, Fern Colden (Lloyd), Phyllis Yanna (Art), Elwyn Weinbrenner (Delores), Carl Jr. Weinbrenner, Temperance, Arthur; his daughter-in-law, Nancy Weinbrenner,
his daughter, Donna Rae and many nieces, and nephews.
Murl's wishes were to donate his body to science at the Department of Anatomy, The Medical School of U.W. - Madison for the benefit of others.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Murl's family would appreciate that memorials be directed to the Mineral Point Library fund, Rescue Squad, Fire Dept. and Care Center.
Dad will be remembered for his great smile, gentle nature, working man's hands, love of reading, and always having a story/ joke to tell.
