Mary Ann Lipska's Obituary
Dodgeville - Mary Ann Lipska of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, passed into heaven at the age of 92 on January 29, 2013, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ann was born to Frank and Ida Prochaska on March 8, 1920 at Castle Rock Ridge of Grant County, Wisconsin.
She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Melvin Lipska Sr. in St. John's Nepomuc Catholic Church at Castle Rock Ridge on October 25, 1948. Sonny & Mary Ann started their first dairy herd at Nash's farm in Livingston in 1953. They eventually bought the Dodgeville farm in 1964, which is presently the family farm today. Mary Ann was a Registered Nurse who served as a 2nd Lieutenant in WWII.
After marriage and while raising her children on the farm, she was a member of Iowa County Homemakers, Retired Nurses, UW-Extension, was a 4-H leader, volunteered for many organizations, was one of the first nurses involved in Hospice care, and was an Affiliate of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration of La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was very proud of her family; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her the most joy. Mary Ann was a classy lady and an amazing woman who was loved by all who knew her.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Sonny, daughter Juliet, grandson Josh, daughter-in-law Cheryl, granddaughter Stacy, son Michael, siblings Joe, Frank, Larry, Barb, Catherine, Theresa and her parents.
She is survived by her children Wayne (Kendra) Lipska, Gail (Phil) Rohowetz, Ryan Lipska, Mel (Ginny) Lipska, Kathi (Kurt) Riemenapp, John (Carolyn) Adametz; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters: Betty Pink, Aggie Bompkamp and Sister Bernadette Prochaska FSPA; her brother-in-law Francie Lipska and her sister-in-law Phyllis Prochaska.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Fr. Patrick Wendler will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.
Mary Ann was an angel on earth, and now she is an angel dancing with dad in heaven.
