Marilyn A. Hirsch

Dodgeville - Marilyn Ann (Moore) Hirsch, age 85, of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 with her loving husband Roger and family members at her side at Crest Ridge Memory Care in Dodgeville. Marilyn was born Aug. 20, 1931 at Garrison Grove Cheese Factory on Hwy. 191 between Dodgeville and Hollandale to Victor and Ruth (McIntosh) Moore. She graduated from Fennimore High School in 1949. Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, Roger Hirsch, on Nov. 3, 1951 in Fennimore. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Marilyn worked for the Borden Company in Boscobel until her marriage. In 1953, she and Roger moved to Dodgeville, where she worked at Owen King Lumber Company, Herb Ladd Implement, and Lands' End. Marilyn played the organ and piano at her church. She spent her life serving the Lord working with teenagers and the Awana Club. She touched many lives with her faith in God and her sweet smile. A gracious hostess, she loved to entertain. She was a special aunt known for her chocolate chip cookies and gingersnaps. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Roger; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, aunt, cousins and friends. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Eileen Rice and her husband Claudie, her sister Carolyn Gardner and her husband Gerald and her nephew Phillip Rice and his wife Gloria. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11:00 am at HIDDEN VALLEY COMMUNITY CHURCH in Dodgeville with Rev. James McMahon officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and on Saturday at 10:00am until time of service at the church. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. Burial will be held at the Stitzer Lutheran Cemetery in Stitzer, Wisconsin. Marilyn's family extends heart-felt appreciation to family, friends, neighbors, and her special caregivers at Crest Ridge for all their care and support. Special thanks to Whitney Thompson and Shelley Reukauf with the ADRC and Deanna Truedson with Memory Café. They not only helped to keep Marilyn at home as long as possible, but also cared for Roger, too. Most of all, we thank God for everything! Memorials may be given in Marilyn's memory to the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin or a charity of your choice.
