Dodgeville - Marie L. Wenger-Rowe age 97 ½ years, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016.
Marie was the oldest child of Edward and Mildred (Cutler) McIntosh. She was born on December 15, 1918 in the Dodgeville Township.
On February 15, 1936 she joined hands in marriage to Oscar A. Wenger. Oscar preceded her in death on May 30, 1982. Marie and Oscar raised seven children in various farming communities.
She dearly loved raising her family and devoted herself to them and their families. Many hours were spent enjoying farming, sewing and baking of all kinds. Oh how she enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, loved gardening and quilting. She made over 100 quilts for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Marie was a member of the Dodgeville Senior Center since 1976 and president of the club for twelve years. She was also a member of the Governor Dodge Rebekah Lodge for many years. She worked at many places in Dodgeville, last of which was Wal-Mart where she enjoyed greeting people for sixteen years, retiring at the age of 88. For thirty two years, she was very involved at the United Methodist Church with assisting families in need by ordering food and helping to serve at funerals.
Marie was the mother of seven loving children. LaVerne (Tina) Wenger, Donald (Dar) Wenger, Robert (Diann) Wenger, DuWayne (Dorine) Wenger, Warren Wenger, Valita Ray & Terry Tallard, Carol (Tom) Gleichauf. She also had 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren.
On July 7, 1990 Marie and Richard Rowe were married at the Dodgeville United Methodist Church. Marie and Richard met while attending the same school in 1925 and 1926. Together they enjoyed many Sunday road trips, going out to eat and reminiscing about historical events. When Dick and Marie joined hands, Dick's daughter, Ruth (Robert) Stoffel, four grandchildren and great grandchildren became part of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mildred McIntosh, both husbands, Oscar and Richard, sons Warren and Donald Wenger, grandson Troy Wenger, two brothers, Lawrence and Robert McIntosh and a sister, Betty Fingerson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at DODGEVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. Pastor Jim Droste will officiate. Burial will be held in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church.
