Mineral Point - Marian A. Carey, 91, of Mineral Point passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother for her family. She was born and lived most of her life a resident of Mineral Point. She is the daughter of Albert T. and Kathryn (Sabish) Graber.
Marian will always be remembered for hosting many picnics and gathering at her home on Doty Street during any Mineral Point parade for over 30 years. Children and grandchildren always knew to find her frozen chocolate chip oatmeal cookies in the basement freezer. She always had a frozen meat pot pie for an impromptu family gathering.
She was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. She was a member of the Mineral Point Women's Club, Mineral Point Historical Society and Dodge Point Bridge Club. She worked as a manager of Shake Rag Alley and for years at the House on the Rock.
Marian is survived by her children, Betty Walsh, of Mineral Point, Michael (Freda) Carey, of Lakeland, FL, Colleen (Kevin) Zimmerman, of Platteville, Carolyn (Steve) Argall, of Paoli; 20 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald W. Carey, sons Gerald J. Carey and Patrick W. Carey, grandson Timothy Walsh, son-in-law Thomas Walsh, and dear friends Helen Clark and Kate Aide.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Fr. Monte Robinson will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Paul's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Monday at the church.
