Obituary

Dodgeville - Marcella Ann Scullion, age 83, of Dodgeville, passed away surrounded by her loving family and her loyal and loving dog Finn on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

She was born on June 27, 1943, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, to Vernell and Elaine Rowe, Marcella lived a life defined by devotion to her family, to those in her care, and to everyone lucky enough to know her.

Marcella dedicated over 55 years of her life to taking care of the elderly, working at the Medical Care Facility, Encore, and Crestridge. Her patience, warmth, and steady hands brought comfort to countless residents over the years. Even after retiring, she couldn't stay away from the work she loved, and she continued volunteering and baking for residents, making sure no one went without a kind word or a homemade treat.

Marcella was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Owen E. Scullion, her partner in a marriage built on deep and enduring love. In a Valentine's note she once wrote to him, she described a love "so strong, so deep," and signed it, fittingly, as his "one and only love." Together they built a life full of joy, filling their children's days with fairs, picnics, the zoo, camping trips, horseback rides, sledding, berry picking, Christmas cabin trips, and ball games, along with countless other memories their family will treasure forever.

Marcella was a loving grandmother and, most recently, a great grandmother, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great grandchild. She also found joy in baking, going out to coffee with family and friends, lunches with loved ones, camping, gardening and tending her flowers, mowing the lawn, and word searches. Her devoted dog, Finn, never left her side.

Marcella is survived by her five children: Christine (Dave), Michelle (Todd), Angie (Dave), Jenny (Dawn), and Chad (Brooke); her grandchildren, Justine (Neil), Gentrey, Evan (Courtney), Carter, Brennan, and Kacie; and her great grandchild, Cora, along with many grand fur babies and many other family members who carry forward the love and lessons she gave so freely.

Marcella's life was a testament to selfless love, as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. She gave endlessly of herself, and she will be remembered for her generous heart, her hard work, and the countless lives she touched over more than five decades of caring for others.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Janney, Bobbie, and Kristen for helping us take care of our mom.
