Obituary

Mineral Point - Lois Mae Sporle, aged 90, died peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care, after a long struggle with Parkinson 's disease.

Lois was born November 11, 1926, the daughter of William and Fern (Greenwood) Vivian.

Lois thoroughly enjoyed exercising to Jack LaLanne, walking and working in her beautiful flower gardens. Lois graduated from Mineral Point High School, Class of 1944. On September 4, 1946, Lois married Robert Herman Sporle and they were married for 58 years until Robert's death on June 6, 2004. In addition to raising their four children, she worked as a telephone operator for GTE for 33 years until her retirement in 1982.

Lois is survived by her 4 children, Dick (Sue) Sporle, Sharon Whitford and Mike & Mark Sporle, her sister Betty Schmit, a brother-in-law Sherman Sporle, 4 grandchildren, Greg Sporle, Shelby (Kurt) Thomas, Debi (Mark) Finkelmeyer and Cyndi (Kris) Eggers and 11 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers-in-law Raymond (Dutch) Schmit, Don Sporle, Phil Sporle, Joe Sporle, a special sister-in-law Ruby Temby and son-in-law Rod Whitford.

She was very kind, had a spirit of generosity and remained lifelong friends with past co-workers, neighbors and classmates. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point. Pastor Gerhardt Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. A luncheon will follow at Tony's Tap in Mineral Point.
