Obituary

Mineral Point – Mineral Point – Lois Ann Darrow, age 85, of Mineral Point, WI, passed away on March 4, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her adoring family. Lois was born on February 15, 1937 to Stephen and Mary (Ivey) Parkinson. She married Donald Darrow on February 9, 1957 and they were married for 65 years.

Mom loved her family more than life. There was nothing more important to her than her kids and grandkids. Mom so enjoyed family gatherings when everyone could be together. She also loved to catch up with family and friends on the phone and could talk for hours. Over the past year she joined Facebook and we jokingly called her cellphone her "Facebook" phone that she used to look at pictures. Another of Mom's favorite past times was collecting her special treasures. She loved a good deal. One of her favorite places to shop was the Bargain Nook in Mineral Point. Mom would stop in every week after getting her hair done at Desiree's Hair Salon.

She spent her entire life taking care of others. She babysat for many years when her kids were little and later on she worked as a CNA at the Mineral Point Care Center. Mom also loved working at Dan's shop, The Livery Antiques. She so enjoyed visiting with all of the antique dealers and folks that came into the store. Mom was always up for a chat and had a story to share.

Mom loved listening to music and Elvis Presley was her all time favorite. She had so much fun going to watch Elvis tribute artist, Tony Rocker, with her girls. She had the surprise of her life on her 60th wedding anniversary when Tony showed up and performed a private show. We're so happy she was able to see him one last time this past November. In 2009 she took a bus trip to Graceland and had the time of her life. That was probably the furthest away from home mom had ever been. Mom also looked forward to her yearly trips to the Fireside Theatre with her girls. It's a tradition that we'll continue in honor of you mom.

Lois is survived by her husband, Donald; six children, Dan (Mary), Rickey, Kitty (Clyde), Steve, Penney (Randy) and Kanndie (Jason); 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Christina (John), Matthew (Jasmine), Stephen, Storm, Winndie (Nick), Shaffen, Brooks (Kaylie), TyDen (Michell), Bella and Brooklyn; and many great-grandchildren as well. Mom also leaves behind her beloved dog, Sugar.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Helen Hughes; and her grandson, Nathan.

Mom we will forever miss the sound of your voice, the twinkle in your eyes and that beautiful smile you always had for us. You truly lit up our world and we will forever carry you in our hearts.
