Dodgeville – Lawrence T. Sommerfeldt, age 85, of Dodgeville, died on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.

He was born on November 4, 1935 in Belmont, WI, a son of the late Leon and Mary (Huggins) Sommerfeldt. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. On October 29, 1955, he married Patricia Leigh at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mineral Point. He worked as an engineer for General Telephone Co. in Dodgeville until his retirement.

Larry was a member of the Dodgeville Fire Department and served as Fire Inspector for the City of Dodgeville for many years. He was also a member of the Gomer Lewis American Legion Post No. 97 and the 40 & 8.

Larry is survived by his sons Wes (Darla) Sommerfeldt and Mark (Donna) Sommerfeldt; six grandchildren; his brother Jim (Teri) Sommerfeldt; his son-in-law John Jenson; his sisters-in-law Verna Batchelor and Brenda (Terry) Foust; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pat, his parents, his daughter Monica Jenson, his brother Robert Sommerfeldt and his sister Juanita Harris.

A Public Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Mineral Point with Military Graveside Rites Accorded by the Dodgeville Area Veterans.
