Obituary

Dodgeville – Larry Dean DeVoss of Dodgeville, passed away on January 9, 2023 from a brief illness at the age of 81 surrounded by his family. Larry was born on September 3, 1941 in Carroll, Iowa to Freddie DeVoss and Margaret Goodwin. Larry met his wife, Catherine Sheets in Jacksonville Florida and were married on June 20, 1964.

From 1960 to 1964 Larry served in the US Navy where he finished as a Petty Officer 2nd Class. Larry worked for Schrock Soil Service and then started his own business: DeVoss Soil Service. He had a long career of driving truck/semi with several companies: Ryan-Schultz-Dowel, McMorhan, T.Slaney & Sons, Praxair, and Great Wide. He retired in 2012. He enjoyed many years of camping, fishing and occasionally going gambling.

Larry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Catherine and their three children. Paul DeVoss (Melisa Jones) of Prairie du Chien; Dawn Forseth (Terry) of Mazomanie and Dora DeVoss of Dodgeville. His siblings, Kay Colbert of Iowa, Richard (Donna) Blackford and Sharon Hart of Missouri, Orville (Carol) DeVoss of Linden, Gary (Cora) DeVoss of Texas, and Tom (Kathy) DeVoss of Dodgeville. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Tiffani Reno (Adam), Amanda Judd, Kaci Lipska (Justin), Gabby Huge (Collin), Dillon DeVoss (Jeanne), Kate DeVoss, Andrew Reynolds (Donna), and Vince Forseth. Eight great-grandchildren: Cael, Forrest, Hunter, Cameron, Mila, Ava, Dominick, and Izaya. Many nieces and nephews.

Larry is proceeded in death by his parents Freddie (Lois) DeVoss and Margaret (Bill) Blackford, his sister Sharon Morrison, and his brothers Dave DeVoss, Fred Blackford, Lloyd Blackford, and Dick DeVoss.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.
