Dodgeville – Kathleen M. "Kay" Horsfield, age 83, of Dodgeville, went to heaven on Friday, March 2, 2018 with her husband and family by her side.
Kay was born on November 17, 1934 in Peosta, Iowa, a daughter of the late Patrick and Mathilda (Mahoney) McDonald. She grew up in Peosta and attended St. John's High School, where she met her husband, Thomas Horsfield. Tom and Kay were married on June 19, 1954 in Peosta.
Kay enjoyed fishing at their cabin in Prairie du Chien, working on flowers in the yard, sewing and quilting, but her greatest joy was being with her family.
Kay is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas Horsfield; her children Julia (Ken) Esch of Dodgeville, Carol (Tim) Graber of Mineral Point and Amy (Don) Hugill of Barneveld; her grandchildren Adam (fiancé, Jamie) Esch, Mark (Katy) Esch, Christopher Heaton, Brian, Matthew, Megan and Brady Hugill; her 7 great grandchildren McKenna, Marlee, Brielle, Evelyn, Daphne, Devin, Dreahna; her daughter-in-law Donna Horsfield of McGregor, Iowa; her siblings Velma Usher, Ellen (Charles) Schmedeke and Francis "Buzz" (Darlene) McDonald; her sister-in-law Marlene McDonald; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son Tommy Horsfield, her parents and many siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Monsignor Daniel Ganshert will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. A rosary service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
