Mineral Point - John F. "Jeff" Sommer, age 82, of Mineral Point passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Bloomfield Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Dodgeville.

He was born on March 15, 1939 the son of Alexander and Esther (Gunnison) Sommer.

He was a lifelong resident of Mineral Point and owned and operated Mineral Point Welding and Machine until his retirement.

He is survived by children, Kimberly Sommer of Mineral Point, and Sean (Nancy) Sommer of Surfside Beach, South Carolina. He is further survived by his four grandchildren, Michele Hughes, Matthew Sommer, Brittany Gleichauf, and Abbigail Sommer, one great grandchild, Taylor Schmidt, as well as his former wife, Arlene Sommer.

A Celebration of Jeff's Life will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
