Dodgeville - John C. "Jack" Jewell, age 82, of Dodgeville, died on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at his home.

Jack was born on July 9, 1932 in Madison, a son of the late Curtis J. and Mary E. (Caygill) Jewell. He graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1950. He then served in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and was stationed at Johnson Air Force Base in Japan, during the Korean War.

In 1964, Donna and Jack bought Dodgeville Florist and in 1969 purchased the East Side Florist in Dodgeville. Together, they ran the Dodgeville Florist until 1994, when they sold the business and retired. He also worked as a rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years.

Jack had a passion for golf and was a longtime member of Dodge-Point Country Club. He and Donna were inducted into the Dodge-Point Hall of Fame in 2002, he won the club Championship several times, the Men's Senior Championship and the Calcutta. He also started and ran the Whiskey Open and was very proud of his hole-in-one. He also loved the fishing trips to Canada, hunting and the morning coffee group.

Jack was also a member of the Dodgeville United Methodist Church, the American Legion and was a 55 year member of the Dodgeville Masonic Lodge.

Jack is survived by his son, Michael John Jewell, of Dodgeville; his sister, Margaret (Richard) Hannon, of Racine; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna in 2013, his son, James C. Jewell in 1994 and his brother, James Jewell and his wife, Jo.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Rev. Rom A. Pegram will officiate. Burial will be held in East Side Cemetery with Military Services accorded by the Dodgeville Area Veterans. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
