Mineral Point - John Raymond "Dutch" Schmit, age 62 , of Mineral Point passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville.

He was born in Dodgeville on June 10, 1960 the son of Raymond and Betty (Vivian) Schmit. John loved to hang with his friends; partying, camping and listening to music in Paul's garage. He enjoyed spending time with his family also. He was always giving the ladies at dialysis a hard time!!

He is survived by his brothers Terry "Rufus" Schmit and Gary Schmit; his sisters Toni (Ken) Rochon and Mary (Fred) Triggs; his nieces Cortney (Cody) Leuthold and Katie (Brian) Smith; his son John Llanas and his granddaughter Angelina.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dutch and Betty Schmit, a brother Robert Jones, nephew Cory Rochon and niece Naomi Schmit.

Private Graveside services will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Mineral Point.

A Celebration of John's Life will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 12 noon until 4:00 P.m. at the RED ROOM in Dodgeville.
