Dodgeville - James Richard Odgers, age 74, of Dodgeville, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 27, 2014.

Jim was born on April 17, 1940, in Dodgeville to Gladys and Benny Odgers. He was a 1958 graduate of the Dodgeville High School.

Jim met his wife, Mary Anne Miess, at the Dodgeville A & W in 1962. They wed in 1964 and have three children. Terri Odgers (Charley Rolli), Eric Odgers (Marah) and Charlene Borland (Brian). They have 6 grandchildren, Brianna, Alex and Brooke Borland and Cal, Isla and Faye Odgers.

Jim began his career laying tile with his dad. He went on to building/remodeling homes in the Dodgeville area. In 1983 he went to work for Walnut Hollow creating display units and renovating. From 1985-1995, he was the building and maintenance manager for Epernay Properties in Spring Green. Closer to retirement he was self-employed concentrating on finish work and cabinetry. He was an extremely talented wood worker and a perfectionist to a fault.

Jim was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He took great pride in his home, property and beautiful gardens. He had an insatiable love for trees. He was always researching alternative energy and had many "green" projects around the property.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. A private family burial is planned.
