Obituary

Barneveld / Madison – James Ralph Duffey, age 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Alden Estates residential center in Jefferson, WI surrounded by family and his beloved daughter Kelly.

Jim graduated from Barneveld Public High School in 1967. He served in the Air Force in Jet Maintenance and was stationed at numerous bases here and abroad, spending 8 years in military service. Jim was a long distance trucker and drove 18 wheelers until his retirement.

James' kind and friendly words, his smile and laughter, allowed him to speak easily with everyone he met and he will be fondly missed. Jim was a father, a husband, a brother and a friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ralph and Lorene Duffey, sister Karen (Kirch) Duffey and brother Robert Duffey.

He is survived by his wife Diane; his daughter Kelly (Swope); his grandson Kaandrae (Brisco); his sisters Bonnie (Wayne) Kuenzi and Debra (Randy) Dunn; his brother Gregory (Shirley); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held in St. Bridget's Cemetery in Ridgeway with Military Honors accorded by the Barneveld American Legion Post No. 433. A luncheon to follow at Ope Haus in Barneveld after the burial.
