Dodgeville/ Hollandale - Helene Marlene (Bollerud) Silbaugh, 82 passed away peacefully at Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center, Dodgeville, WI on March 4, 2015.
Helene was born at home on February 16, 1933 to Karl Isaac & Edna Viola (Jacobson) Bollerud, Blanchardville, WI.
Helene married the love of her life Darrel Lavonne Silbaugh on November 5, 1950. Together they raised six children. She worked for 26 years for the U S Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster at Hollandale. When not on duty at the USPS, Helene enjoyed working with Darrel on the farm, raising children, gardening, sewing, reading historical fiction, learning about other cultures, and most of all visiting with friends and family. After retiring, home was not where the couple could be found as they were enjoying many trips traveling in their motor home, staying at state parks. Church was a special place for Helene. She and Darrel spent many Sunday mornings as greeters at the Hollandale Lutheran Church. She was very involved with Lutheran World Relief.
Helene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Darrel. Six children: Susan Wilson, Eugene (Jeannie) Silbaugh, David (Diane) Silbaugh, Diane (Mohommad Kasraian) Silbaugh, Janice (Charles) Beranek, Mary Spencer, Edward Kabare (AFS student).
Eleven grandchildren: Mathew Wilson, Rebecca (Adam) O'Morrow, Daniel Silbaugh, Stephanie (Caleb) O'Morrow, Corey (Jessica) Silbaugh, Emily (Zach) Brewer, Angela (David Kehl) Beranek, Christina Beranek, Heidi (Ronald) Brandt, Heather (York) Ragen, Jeffrey (Michele) Minder.
Twenty-one great-grandchildren: Bethany, Ethan, Katherine, Joel, Laura, Nathaniel, Felicity & Margaret O'Morrow, Sophia, Jack & Levi O'Morrow, Draven Silbaugh, Macy & Lainey Brewer, Alyson, Bodie & Garrett Minder, Seth & Hans Brandt, Lily & Kylie Ragen.
Her siblings: Edith Kitchen, Shirley (Robert) Fisher, Henry (Mary) Bollerud, her sister-in-law, Judy Bollerud.
Helene was preceded in death by her brother Karl Bollerud, brother-in-law Leonard Kitchen, sister-in-law Ruth Egger, brother-in-law Albert Egger, son-in-law Jeffrey A. Spencer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at HOLLANDALE LUTHERAN CHURCH, Hollandale, WI. Rev. Margo Martens will officiate. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in Dodgeville.
