Helen M. Flanagan

Mineral Point - Helen M. Flanagan, age 91, of Mineral Point, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville. She was born in Mineral Point on September 22, 1921 the daughter of Will and Mary (Kieffer) Lawinger. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1938. Helen married Cecil Flanagan on April 23, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mineral Point. She was a member of Ss. Mary & Paul Catholic Church, The Council of Catholic Women, and Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed spending her time with family and friends. Helen is survived by her children, Harry (Jean) Flanagan, Phil Flanagan, Elaine (Mark) Busch all of Mineral Point, Rev. David Flanagan of Cuba City, Mark (Karla) Flanagan of Cobb; her son-in-law, Peter Walsh, of Mineral Point; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Patrick) Maguire, Jodi (Wade) Peat, Andy, Brian (Laura), Amy and Melissa Busch, Sara, Emily and Michael Walsh, Mariah and Karl Flanagan; 8 great-grandchildren Molly, Megan and Zach Maguire, Angelina and Wyatt Peat, Jackson, Annabelle and Eleanor Busch. She is further survived three siblings, Joan Grimm and Ag Knudson, of Mineral Point and Ken (Mary) Lawinger, of Sauk Centre, MN; two sisters-in-law, Helena Lawinger and Helen (Bob) Regan, of Mineral Point. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil, her daughter, Kaye Walsh, her siblings, Eleanor Joestgen, Alice Hartung, Bill Lawinger and Bob Lawinger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Concelebrants are Fr. David Flanagan, Fr. Monte Robinson, Deacon Larry Lawinger and Deacon Bill Bussan and priests of the Madison Dioceses. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH. The family would like to thank, Dr. Everett Lindsey, Dr. Gordon Grieshaber, Mineral Point Medical Center, Upland Hills Health, Ed Sayre - Ivey's Pharmacy for the wonderful and compassionate care that was given to Helen.
