Ridgeway – Harold D. "Possum" Nichols, age 84, of Ridgeway, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Bloomfield Healthcare & Rehab Center from heart complications.
Possum was born on November 11, 1931 in Arkansas, a son of Taylor and Ruth Nichols. He was known as a great talker, a friendly person and good business man. He was well known to the people of Ridgeway and a generation of teenagers, who frequented his youth center. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Possum is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doreen; his mother-in-law, Delores; his four children, Perry Nichols, Ruth Nevins, Joshua Nichols, all of Ridgeway & Jane (Roger) Pfieffer, of New Orleans; his grandchildren Charlie (Jessica) Nichols, Nate (Robin) Nichols, Amanda (John) Deckert Reeson, Will (Kristal) Deckert, Betsy (Ernest) Davis and Harold Foust; his great grandchildren Jonathon, Rosie, Owen, Evan, Iean and Sophia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Taylor, his brothers, Sam and Jim Nichols, his father-in-law, Bernette Davis, his son-in-law, Jack Nevins, his niece, Kathy Buck Johnson, his great niece, Melinda.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at BARNEVELD LUTHERAN CHURCH, with Rev. Jim Hearne officiating. Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
