Dodgeville – Harold Buckingham, age 82, of Dodgeville, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Monroe Hospice, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on April 19,1943 along with his twin brother, Gerald. They were born to Bernice E. (Jelliffe) Buckingham.
Harold worked at Wieland Cheese Factory in Dodgeville for 12 years and then at Decar of Middleton for 7 years as Routing Group leader. On May 21, 1972, he was in a serious motorcycle accident and went through 9 years of operations on his right leg. He was made to go back to school and attended Southwest Technical School in Fennimore and graduated with a double degree in Business Administration – Accounting and Business Administration – Finance in 1976. He then worked at Collins & Hying for 7 years and then Federal Industries in Belleville for 24 years. While working for Federal he had 2 other full-time jobs, at the Concord Inn for 9 years and Citgo for 9 years.
Harold enjoyed being around people. His best hobby was song writing and deer hunting.
Harold is survived by his son David H. Buckingham; his godson Brian Godfrey; his grandson Kory L. Peterson; his granddaughters Samantha Cook, Lexis Swanson and Josie Buckingham; his brother Raymond Buckingham of DeSoto; his sisters Judy Hosey and Betty Peterson both of Lake Mills; close friends and step children Tyden Williams, Roy U'Ren, Tyler Buckingham and Jon Hildreth; many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Bernice in 1991 and his twin brother Gerald in 1994.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Burial will be held in East Side Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025 and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
