Dodgeville – Harold William "Bill" Hill, age 76, of Dodgeville, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his home.
Bill was born on December 23, 1939 in Liberty Township, Grant County, a son of the late Harold and Beulah (Ferris) Hill. On April 13, 1963, He married Patricia Colson at Peace Lutheran Church in Cobb. Bill farmed for a while in the area and moved his family to Madison, where he worked at Gisholt Machines. They then moved to Black Earth and worked for Patrons Mercantile. In 1968, Bill landed a position with Clare's Standard in Dodgeville. He served as the Village of Ridgeway officer before starting his career with the Iowa County Sheriff's Department. He started at dispatcher/jailer then finished his career in law enforcement as a road patrolman on June 1, 2000.
Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, woodworking, mowing the lawn, snow blowing, coin detecting, riding motorcycles and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia; his children, Jeff (Kelly) Hill of Monroe, Brad (Tammy) Hill of Montfort, Pam (Joe) Steffes of Mineral Point, Roxy (Greg) Seyfferth of Dodgeville and Angie (Gene Dougherty) Forseth, of Dodgeville; his grandchildren, Jessica Albrecht, Melissa, Jeffrey and Megan Hill, Ronnie Hill, Trista Palzkill, Trent Steffes, Isabella, Brady and Ellyana Seyfferth, Jacob, Justine and Jaxson Forseth; his great grandchildren, Kaylea and Dallas Steffes, Murphy and Charlie Palzkill, Kane Albrecht; his siblings, Jane, Pat, Connie and Debbie; his brother-in-law, David (Cheryl) Colson; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, his brothers, Robert and Daniel and his son-in-law, Jamie Forseth.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH in Dodgeville. Rev. Mark Williamson will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and from 1:00 p.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church.
