Mineral Point – Gertrude Esch, (nee Palzkill) passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the age of 98.
She was born on September 1, 1914. She married Victor Esch in Mineral Point on June 14, 1947. She was a lifelong resident of Mineral Point up until the past couple of years living in assisted living in Dodgeville. Gert was an active volunteer at St. Mary's Catholic Parish as well as other community organizations. She took great pride sharing the flowers and produce of her garden.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Mary (Joe) Harker of New Berlin; her son, Mike (Jim) of Madison; her granddaughters, Amy (Jeff) Wolman of Belvidere, IL and Michelle Harker of Waukesha. She was also a loving great grandmother to Justin, Jarrett, and Aaron Wolman. She was preceded in death by her husband Vic, parents Chris and Clara Palzkill, and two sisters Sr. Barbara Palzkill and Mildred Mollet.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Fr. Monte Robinson will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial to Upland Hills Hospice or a charity of your choice.
