Mineral Point - Gertrud "Trudy" Nevels passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville, Wisconsin following a sudden and brief illness.

Trudy was born on April 20, 1931 in Lohr am Main, Germany to Karl and Anna (Zipperer) Werner. She was the youngest of eight children (but not the shortest).

In 1958, Trudy chased a young American G.I. back to the United States and married him (Edward Nevels) July 19 of that year in Darlington, Wisconsin. They had two children and were successful proprietors of the Mineral Point Bakery from 1966 to 1989, when Edward passed away.

Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, first granddaughter Erika DiPiazza, both of her parents and all of her siblings.

Trudy is survived by her daughter Sybille DiPiazza of Dodgeville, WI; her son Dieter Nevels of Beavercreek, OH; her granddaughter Breanna Nevels of Scottsdale, AZ; her grandsons Edward DiPiazza of Dodgeville, WI and David DiPiazza of Dodgeville, WI; numerous nieces and nephews in both the United States and Germany.

A visitation for Trudy will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point, WI from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a brief service following at 1:00 p.m. There will be no burial service as Trudy's wishes to be cremated will be respected.
