Mineral Point - Gene Gratz Greenwood, 78 of Mineral Point died on Tuesday, September 22, 2015. He was born on December 25th, 1936 and always liked to announce that he was born on Christmas.

He married the love of his life Beverly Jean Massey on Feb 14, 1959 and continued to farm the family farm for many years. Gene loved farming, going to auctions, hunting and fishing. He was always after the next big one. He passed on his love of digging in the dirt, and of animals to his daughters.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, George Charles and Nellie Mae (Gratz) Greenwood, his brother Charles Lewis Greenwood and his sister Marilynn Laura Kever, brothers-in-law Bill Kever, John Altenberg and Glenn Schriber.

Gene is survived by loving wife Beverly, his two daughters Julie (George) McConnell and Angela (Mark) Blabaum, his grandsons, Ryan (Mindy) McConnell and Allen Blabaum, his sister Margaret Altenberg, and great-grandson Callen McConnell. Sisters-in-law Marilyn Schriber, Jeanne Massey and Donna Greenwood, Brother-in-Law David Massey, and many nieces and nephews. His cats, Thomas, Kittycat Kate, Bubby and Ellie Mae.

Gene will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Gene Greenwood's Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point. Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Upland Hills Hospice would be appreciated.
