Dodgeville / Mineral Point - Evelyn Jane Hunter, age 94, of Dodgeville and formerly of Mineral Point, passed away peacefully at Upland Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dodgeville on Sunday, May 4, 2014.

She was born in Chicago, IL on October 20, 1919, the daughter of Henry and Neva Ulrich.

Evelyn worked for several years at Zenith Radio Company. She was an active member of the Goodwill Church and Community Center, where she met the love of her life, and future husband Wesley Hunter. They were married in her parent's home on February 5, 1938.

Wesley committed his life to God, and became a Methodist Minister. Together, he and Evelyn served many churches in Belmont, Mt. Hope, Mineral Point, Richland Center, and later the South Dakota Council of Churches. Evelyn was the perfect example of a Minister's wife, always striving to serve the Church in what ever capacity was needed, be it teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, calling on church members, or just doing dishes in the kitchen after the many church suppers.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed gardening, camping, and fishing, puzzles and crafts.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Ronald (Edith) Hunter, of Dodgeville; her daughter-in-law, Marion Hunter, of Mineral Point; four granddaughters, Lora Hunter, of Platteville, Patti Klein, of Burnsville, MN., Amy (Erik) Jappinen, of Oconomowoc, and Alicia (Eric) Tverberg, of York, PA; six great grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren Klein, Tessa and Alyssa Jappinen, and Hannah and Allison Tverberg; and a special niece Sandy (Jim) Melton, of Oak Forest, IL.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wesley of 60 years, her son, Thomas and her grandson, Greg.

A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Mineral Point, with visitation before the service from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their deepest thank you to the nurses and staff at Upland Hills for their dedication and care of Evelyn for the past 11 years. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
