Obituary

Mineral Point - Evalena Mae Anderson, age 93, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024.

Evalena was born May 11, 1931 to Richard G. White, III and Fannie Evalena (James) White near Waldwick, Wisconsin. She grew up on the family farm near Waldwick with her brother Richard and graduated from Mineral Point High School. She attended Platteville College where she earned her teaching degrees in Chemistry, Home Economics and English. She taught English and Home Economics at the new Hollandale High School from 1952-1954. On May 29, 1954, she wed Clifford James Anderson at the Congregational Church(UCC) in Mineral Point.

She and Clifford farmed near Waldwick where they raised their children. After the children were grown, she then worked at Lands' End for many years. Evalena always worked very hard, sewing most of the family's clothing, gardening, working on the farm and making all food from scratch. She and Clifford belonged to the Somerset Card Club for over 60 years. She was active in Homemakers as well as her church circle. Evalena was a life-long member of the Congregational United Church of Christ.

Evalena is survived by her children: Donald (Marie) Anderson, Mary (Paul) Dolan and Margie (Frank) Barnes. She is also survived by grandchildren: Ryan, Andrea, Roselynn, Jordan, Megan, Courtney, Brandon and Grant, their spouses and 17 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces and nephews: Robin, Robert and Rodney White and Cathy, Debbie, and Carolyn Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, daughter Marcia, and granddaughter Kayla as well has her parents, brother Richard and in-laws Beverly White and Alvin and Beth Anderson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 204 at the CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST in Mineral Point. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
