Dodgeville / Mineral Point - Eugene U'Ren, 73, of Dodgeville, formerly of Mineral Point, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at his home. He was born on June 3, 1938 to Russell W. and Patricia (Darling) U'Ren. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1956. He was united in marriage to Alice Holmes on June 14, 1958 at St. Joseph's Church in Dodgeville. They farmed together in the Waldwick area for 39 years. In addition to his passion for farming he loved Badger and Packer football and playing cards. However, his greatest love of all was his family. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his kids and grandchildren.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 53 years, Alice; his daughter, Kim (Patrick) Ley, of Dodgeville; his four grandchildren Jenifer (Richard) Dankyi, of Kirksville MO, Stacey (fiancé Kent Parker) Ley, of Wheaton IL, Nicole and Tyler Ley, both of Dodgeville; brother Ron (Geri) U'Ren, of Mineral Point; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott and his parents, Russell and Patricia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Fr. James Hinnen will officiate. Burial will be held in East Side Cemetery in Dodgeville. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point and from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass on Friday at the church.
