Mineral Point - Ella Quire, age 94, of Mineral Point, passed as she slept in the early morning of May 29, 2014, at her home.

Ella was born May 2, 1920, one of the 11 children of the late William and Vera (Lutes) Rundle. Ella became the wife of Homer Quire on January 14, 1950, at The Little Brown Church. They lived in Mineral Point and raised their family until Homer's death in 1984.
Ella worked at Carnes in Verona for many years until her retirement, after which she babysat for family and friends. She loved playing cards, bingo, Yahtzee, puzzles and sitting on her front porch with friends and family.

Ella is survived by her children George (Geneva) Conners; Gary (Linda) Conner; Homer (Sharon) Quire; Mark (Linda) Quire; Carolyn (Jeff) Jorgenson; 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren; her long-time friend, whom she enjoyed coffee with daily, Steve Hermanson; sisters Jean Polkinghorn and Irene Daniels; sister-in-law Joan Rundle and several nieces and nephews.

Ella was pre-deceased by her parents; her husband, Homer Quire; four brothers, Robert, Ronald, Gordon and Mervin Rundle; four sisters, Ruth Luxem, Melva Rasmussen, Wilma Alt, and Hazel Hildreth; children, James Conner, Diane Quire Toay, Sharon Conner and Dennis Quire in infancy; as well as grandson Billy Jo Jorgenson.

She loved her family and will be loved and missed by all.

In celebration of Ella's life, visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014, and funeral services to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Gorgen's Funeral Home in Mineral Point. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their deepest thank you to Dr. Grieshaber and the nurses and staff at Upland Hills for their loving care of Ella and for the guidance by Upland Hills Hospice in Mom's final days. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
