Eleanor M. Williams' Obituary
Dodgeville – Eleanor M. Williams, age 99, of Dodgeville, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in Dodgeville.
Eleanor was born on July 20, 1915 on the family farm between Mt. Horeb and Mt. Vernon, to Albert and Ida Belle (Beard) Kobbervig. She graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1932 and married Gorden E. Williams on February 2, 1935. They farmed together until his death in September, 1957. She continued farming until 1964, when she moved to Dodgeville. She later worked at Corner Drug and GTE until her retirement.
Eleanor was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the GLCW, Simpson Ladies Aid, the Iowa County Homemakers and the Governor Dodge Rebekah Lodge. She was a past member of Primative Methodist Church in Ridgeway and served as its Sunday School Treasurer and was also a 4-H leader for 41 years.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Dave (Joyce) Williams, of Mt. Horeb, Earl (Betty) Williams, of Dodgeville, Helen (Bob) Schuerman, of Sugar Grove, IL, Leslie (Diana) Williams, of Holt, MO, Dick (Peg) Williams, of Dubuque, Ruth Derrick, of Blacksburg, VA; her brother, Don (Jerry) Kobbervig, of Dodgeville; 34 grandchildren; 76 great grandchildren; 32 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gorden, her parents, Albert and Ida, her in-laws, Evan and Millie Williams, her brothers, Raymond, Robert, Kenneth and Edgar Kobbervig, her son-in-law, Joe Derrick, her grandson-in-law, Kevin Eggers, her great grandchildren, Matt McMahon, Chris McMahon, Nathan Williams, Brandon Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH in Dodgeville. Rev. Kenneth L. Schaub will officiate. Burial will be held in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sienna Crest, Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center and Upland Hills Hospice for the loving care of mom.
