Dorothy J. Anderson's Obituary
Dodgeville / Highland – Dorothy J. Anderson, age 84, of Dodgeville, formerly of Highland, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehab Center.
She was born on May 31, 1929 in Mineral Point, a daughter of the late Charles M. and Louise (Helz) Paynter. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1947. She graduated from Platteville University with Teacher's Degree and taught 5 ½ years at Rockwell Mills. On November 24, 1955, she married Vernon Anderson at the Congregational U.C.C. in Mineral Point. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Dorothy was a member of Otter Creek Lutheran Church and served in many offices of its ELCW. She also served as Superintendent of the Otter Creek Sunday School for 30 + years. Her passion was making banners for all occasions for family, church and Bloomfield Healthcare. She also worked part-time and served as curator for the Iowa County Historical Society.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Donna (Curt) Peterson, Mary Jane Riemenapp, both of Dodgeville, Susan "Sue" (Lynn) Phillips, of Ridgeway, Charles (Annette) Anderson, of Highland, Bill (Amy) Anderson, of Dodgeville; her grandchildren, Craig Simenson, Neal (Joyel) Simenson, Erica Riemenapp, Kelly (Jeff) Komplin, Megan (Justin) Moyer, Anica Riemenapp, Kyle (special friend, Courtney) Phillips, Brian Phillips, Chase Anderson, Cara (Tyler Ley) Anderson, Casey and Tanner Anderson; her great-grandchildren, Hunter Hubbard, Zander Simenson, Kassidy, Jordan & Kelsey Komplin, Lydia & Aubrey Moyer; her sister, Jean Brown, of Dodgeville; her brother, James (June) Paynter, of Blanchardville; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Derek Riemenapp, brother in-law Elliot Brown, sister and brother in-law Belva and Marlin Espeseth, nephew Karl Espeseth.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at OTTER CREEK LUTHERAN CHURCH. Rev. Ramona Orton will officiate. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Sunday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Otter Creek Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Bloomfield Manor for the wonderful care they gave our mom while she was a resident there.
