Mineral Point - Donald G. Mundth, age 68, of Mineral Point passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014.

He was born June 29, 1945 in Fort Atkinson, WI to Donald G. and Betty (Ebner) Mundth. The family moved to Mineral Point in 1959, where he attended Mineral Point High School. Don served as a law enforcement officer in Dodgeville for several years and after completing school at UW Platteville, continued his work and subsequently was hired by Chicago & North Western Rail Road as a police officer with them. He was with C&NW until 1990 when he had to retire due to health issues.

He was avid fisherman and hunter and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and loved every minute of it! He loved teaching about water safety and the opportunity to work with others to help improving boating and watercrafts in general.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, as well as Joan's father and mother (whom he dearly loved).

Don is survived by his wife Joan; his children and grandchildren Jim (Wendi Merten) Mundth of New Richmond, WI and Cortney, Zach and Tyler Mundth, Jennifer (Chris Klein) Mundth-Hesselink of New Richmond and Jessica (Marc Bishop) and Johnny Hesselink; his two step-son's Bryan (Misha) Stevens of Phenix City, AL and Jim (Angela Savasta) Palmer of Pewaukee, WI; his brothers Carl (Amy) Mundth and David Mundth along with a very special "Brother" Bernie Ortiz, and former wife & friend Judy (Gerry) Gustafson. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, and friends from the Rail Road, Coast Guard and law enforcement.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST in Mineral Point at 2:30 p.m. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions to go toward medical expenses.
